Cricket Bat Sourcing — Complete FAQ
English willow (Salix alba caerulea) is softer, has better grain structure, and offers superior performance for leather ball cricket. Kashmir willow is harder, more durable, and cost-effective — ideal for entry-level, training, and tennis ball cricket. English willow bats are typically 3–5× the price of comparable Kashmir willow bats.
Industry-standard grading: Grade 1+ (Player) — 10–12 straight grains, minimal blemishes; Grade 1 — 8–10 grains; Grade 2 — 6–8 grains with minor blemishes; Grade 3 — 4–6 grains. Grading is visual and based on grain count, blemish count, and overall cleft appearance.
Short Handle (SH) adult bats typically range from 1.15 kg (2 lb 7 oz) to 1.40 kg (2 lb 12 oz). Most club players prefer 1.20–1.30 kg. We can produce specific weight bands (e.g., 2 lb 8 oz – 2 lb 10 oz) with individual weighing for consistency.
